About

Home tech, minus the hype.

Arufflednest is an independent home-tech blog and review site. We help you cut through spec sheets and marketing to find gear that actually works in a real home.

Why we exist

Most tech coverage is either a press-release rewrite or a wall of benchmarks. We started Arufflednest for the rest of us — people who just want to know what's worth buying, what to skip, and how to set it up without a computer-science degree. Every guide is written to answer one question: would we recommend this to a friend?

What we cover

  • Wi-Fi & networking — mesh systems, routers, whole-home coverage
  • Smart home — the genuinely useful kind
  • Everyday gear & gadgets
  • Consumer cybersecurity — staying safe without the paranoia
  • Practical AI tools worth your time

How we work

Tested vs Researched

When we've used a product first-hand, we label it Tested and show what we found. When a guide is built from research — specs, expert sources, and aggregated owner feedback — we label it Researched and say so. We never pretend to have tested something we haven't.

Independent — and reader-supported. We use affiliate links and may earn a commission (at no extra cost to you), but our picks are our own: we rank on merit, not commission, and we don't run sponsored reviews. (See our disclosure.)

Accurate & current. We cite primary sources, fix mistakes when readers flag them, and update guides as products change.

Founder & Editor

Theo Hartley is the founder and editor of Arufflednest. A lifelong gadget tinkerer who got tired of confusing spec sheets and over-hyped reviews, Theo covers home tech in plain English — Wi-Fi and networking, smart home, and the AI tools actually worth your time. We test hands-on where we can, research transparently where we can't, and always say which.
